‘…Who art in heaven’ (Troverete il testo in italiano ed in albanese in fondo alla pagina) 
This can be one of the more perplexing petitions of the Our Father. Does it mean that our Father is somewhere else, far from our struggles here on earth, in heaven, where everything is peaceful and in order?
The Gospel tells us that it cannot be so. In the person of Jesus we meet the Christian God who is the Emmanuel, the God-with-us. Jesus, the one whom came to live among us, said, ‘Who sees me sees the Father’. Moreover, in the Gospel we find many instances where earth and heaven are closely linked: Jesus said to his disciples that ‘Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again, I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything for which they are to pray, it shall be granted to them by my heavenly Father’. (Mt:18:18-19)
We can understand these words as first of all distinguishing our earthly father from our heavenly one. More importantly, they remind us that God is living in a world of transcendence, of definitive peace and total justice, to which we all aspire. During our earthly life we are travellers, pilgrims on our way to the Father’s house, towards this state of total peace. Our Father is already there, and Jesus assured us that in his Father’s house there are many rooms: he himself is going there to prepare a place for us. (Jn 14:2)
These words should fill us with confidence and deep inner peace, as we face so many intractable situations and conflicts in our world. When we feel overwhelmed by the darkness and hopelessness that surround us we can remind ourselves that we are journeying towards our Father’s house, a place of definitive peace, where justice and love reign supreme.
“One day I entered the cell of our dear little sister [Therese of Lisieux] and I was struck by her expression of profound meditation. She was absorbed in her sewing and yet seemed lost in deep contemplation: “What are you thinking,” I asked her? “I meditate on the Our Father,” she replied. It is so sweet to call the good God our Father! … “And tears shone in his eyes. […] ” Oh ! yes, he is my father and it is sweet to me to give him that name “» (Counsels and Memories).

‘…Che sei nei cieli’
Questa può essere una delle suppliche del Padre Nostro che può lasciare più perplessi. Significa che nostro Padre è da qualche altra parte, lontano dalle nostre lotte quotidiane sulla terra? in cielo dove tutto è pacifico e in ordine?
Il Vangelo ci dice che non può essere così. Nella persona di Gesù noi incontriamo il Dio cristiano che è l’Emmanuele, il Dio con noi. Gesù, Colui che è venuto a vivere fra noi, ha detto: ‘Chi vede me vede il Padre’. Inoltre nel Vangelo troviamo molte frasi dove la terra e il cielo sono strettamente collegati: Gesù ha detto ai suoi discepoli che: ‘Qualunque cosa legherete sulla terra sarà legata in cielo e qualunque cosa scioglierete sulla terra sarà sciolta anche in cielo. Vi dico anche che se due di voi si accorderanno sulla terra riguardo qualunque cosa per cui pregare, questa sarà loro concessa dal Padre mio celeste’. (Mt 18,18-19)
Possiamo capire queste parole prima di tutto nel senso di distinguere fra il nostro padre terreno e quello celeste. Ma ciò che è ancor più importante, esse ci ricordano che Dio vive in una realtà trascendente, di pace definitiva e di totale giustizia, a cui aspiriamo. Durante la nostra vita terrena noi siamo in cammino, pellegrini verso la casa del Padre, verso questo stato di completa pace. Nostro Padre è già là e Gesù ci assicura che nella casa di suo Padre ci sono molte dimore: Lui stesso sta andando a prepararci un posto. (Gv 14,2)
Queste parole dovrebbero riempirci di fiducia e di profonda pace interiore, dal momento che nel nostro mondo siamo di fronte a molte situazioni difficili e a molti conflitti. Quando ci sentiamo sopraffatti dal buio e dalla mancanza di speranza che ci circonda, possiamo ricordare a noi stessi che siamo in cammino verso la casa del Padre, un luogo di pace definitiva, dove la giustizia e l’amore regnano sovrani.
“Un giorno sono entrata nella cella della nostra cara piccola sorella [Teresa di Lisieux] e sono rimasta colpita dalla sua espressione di profonda meditazione. Era assorta nel suo lavoro di cucito e tuttavia sembrava persa in contemplazione profonda: “A cosa stai pensando?” le chiesi. “Medito sul Padre Nostro” rispose. E’ così dolce chiamare il buon Dio Padre nostro! … “E le lacrime brillavano nei suoi occhi. […] “Oh! sì, Lui è mio padre ed è così dolce per me chiamarlo così”» (Consigli e Memorie).

‘…Kush është atje lart në qiell’
Kjo mund të jetë një nga pyetjet më të ndërlikuara rreth Atit tonë. A do të thotë se Ati ynë është diku tjetër, larg vështirësive tona këtu në tokë, në qiell ,ku gjithçka është e qetë dhe në rregull?
Ungjilli na tregon se nuk mund të jetë kështu. Në personin e Jezusit ne takojmë Hyjin e krishterë që është Emanueli, Zoti- me ne. Jezusi, I cili erdhi për të jetuar mes nesh, tha: “Kush më sheh mua, sheh Atin“. Për më tepër, në Ungjill ne gjejmë shumë raste ku toka dhe qielli janë të lidhura ngushtë: Jezui u tha dishepujve të tij :Pënjëmend po ju them ‘Çdo gjë që ju të lidhni përmbi tokë do të jetë i lidhur edhe në qiell dhe ,çdo gjë që do të zgjidhni mbi tokë do të jetë e zgjidhur edhe në qiell. Përsëri po ju them: nëse dy vete prej jush ketu mbi tokë , të një mendimi , luten për cfarëdo sendi,Ati im që është në qiell do t’ua japë atyre. (Mat 18: 18-19)
Ne mund t’i kuptojmë këto fjalë, para së gjithash, duke e dalluar atin tonë tokësor nga Ai qiellor.
Më e rëndësishmja është se ato na kujtojnë se Zoti jeton në një botë përsosur ,me nje paqe te konsoliduar dhe drejtësi të plotë, për të cilën të gjithë ne aq shume e dëshirojmë . Gjatë jetës sonë tokësore ne jemi udhëtarë, pelegrinë në rrugën tonë drejt shtëpisë së Atit, drejt kësaj gjendje paqeje të plotë. Ati ynë tashmë është atje dhe Jezusi na garanton ne se në shtëpinë e Atit ka shumë banesa : Ai vetë po shkon atje për të përgatitur një vend për ne. (Gjn 14, 2)
Këto fjalë duhet të na mbushin me besim dhe paqe të brendshme të thellë, duke qënë se përballemi me kaq shumë situata dhe konflikte të paqëndrueshme në botën tonë. Kur ndihemi të tronditur nga errësira dhe mungesa e shpresës që na rrethon ne mund t’i kujtojmë vetes sonë se po ecim drejt shtëpisë së Atit tonë, një vend paqeje përfundimtare, ku drejtësia dhe dashuria mbizotërojnë.
“Një ditë hyra në dhomëzën e motrës sonë të vogël , të dashur [Terese e Lisieux] ku u mahnita nga shprehja e saj gjatë një meditimi të thellë. Ajo ishte e zhytur në qëndisjen e saj dhe dukej e humbur në meditim të thellë: ndërkohë unë e pyeta – “Çfarë po mendon”? “Unë meditoj për Atin tonë,” u përgjigj ajo. Sa gjë e ëmbël është ta quash Hyjin e mirë, Atin tonë! … “Dhe lotët shkëlqenin në sytë e tij. […] “Oh, po, ai është Ati im dhe është gjë e ëmbël për mua që t’i jap Atë emër” (Këshillat dhe Kujtimet).
