Be Reconciled [15] – He is Risen. Peace be with you!

Jesus is Risen, and the first words he says to his friends, who had all abandoned him in his hour of need, were, ‘Peace be with you!’ They had all very solemnly promised even to die with him, but one had betrayed him, another had sworn he did not even know him and all had fled. Now he comes looking for them, and greets them with peace! No complaints, no recriminations, I-told-you-so, just peace, not once, but twice.

Then he went on to surprise them even more. They most probably expected him to inform them they were no longer his disciples, they had failed miserably. They would have understood. But he tells them, ‘As the Father sent me, I also send you.’  I am going to share the same mission I have received from my Father, because I trust you can carry it on when I leave you.

To enable them to do this, he gave them the Holy Spirit, and further explained their mission: he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (Jn 20: 22-23)

Jesus shed his blood for the forgiveness of our sins, and is now risen. His first words and gestures are all about reconciliation. The apostles are best placed to be the ambassadors of reconciliation because they have been through the experience of undeserved forgiveness themselves, so that they know what they are speaking about.

The Gospel tells us that just after wishing them peace, Jesus showed them his hands and his side, to remind them that reconciliation comes at a price, and that even after the Resurrection, the signs of his Passion were still visible in his glorious body.

As we celebrate the Resurrection and ask to be given to share the joy of the Risen Jesus, we can look back at the past weeks and our reflection on reconciliation. I thank God for his great generosity in reconciling us to himself in Christ, and ask for the grace to be a good ambassador of reconciliation.

In the presence of the Risen Jesus I pray with renewed confidence for our shattered world, for us Christians, so divided among ourselves because so often we seek to be served and not to serve. May we know how to tell the world that God has forgiven our sins and offers us the great gift of peace.

Lui è risorto. La pace sia con voi!

Gesù è Risorto e le prime parole che dice agli amici che lo hanno abbandonato nell’ora del bisogno sono: ‘Pace a voi!’  Tutti loro avevano promesso solennemente che sarebbero perfino morti con Lui, ma uno lo ha tradito, un altro ha giurato addirittura di non conoscerlo e tutti sono fuggiti. Ora Lui viene a cercarli e li saluta con un augurio di pace! Nessun rimprovero, nessuna recriminazione, come ho detto, solo pace, non una, ma due volte.

Poi prosegue, sorprendendoli ancora di più. Molto probabilmente si aspettavano che li informasse che non erano più suoi discepoli, dato che l’avevano miseramente abbandonato. L’avrebbero capito. Invece Lui dice: ‘Come il Padre ha mandato me, anche io mando voi.’  Condivido con voi la missione che ho ricevuto dal Padre, perché mi fido che la porterete avanti quando io vi lascerò.

Per abilitarli a questa missione, Lui dona loro lo Spirito Santo e spiega ulteriormente: alitò su di loro e disse: «Ricevete lo Spirito Santo; a chi rimetterete i peccati saranno rimessi e a chi non li rimetterete, resteranno non rimessi». (Gv 20, 22-23)

Gesù ha versato il suo sangue per il perdono dei nostri peccati e ora è risorto. Le sue prime parole e i suoi gesti sono tutti incentrati sulla riconciliazione. Gli apostoli possono essere i migliori ambasciatori della riconciliazione perché hanno fatto loro stessi l’ esperienza del perdono immeritato, per cui sanno di cosa stanno parlando.

Il Vangelo ci dice che, dopo aver augurato a loro la pace, Gesù ha mostrato le mani e il costato, per ricordare loro che la riconciliazione ha un prezzo, e che anche dopo la Resurrezione, i segni della Passione sono ancora  visibili nel suo corpo  glorioso.

Mentre celebriamo la Resurrezione e chiediamo il dono di condividere la gioia di Gesù Risorto, possiamo riportare lo sguardo alle settimane passate e alle nostre riflessioni sulla riconciliazione. Ringraziare Dio per la sua grande generosità nel riconciliarci a sé in Cristo e chiedere la grazia di essere buoni ambasciatori della riconciliazione.

Alla presenza di Gesù Risorto preghiamo con rinnovata fiducia per il nostro mondo diviso, per noi Cristiani, tanto divisi fra noi, perché cerchiamo così spesso di essere serviti, anziché di servire. Che possiamo comprendere come comunicare al mondo che Dio ha perdonato i nostri peccati e che ci offre l’inestimabile dono della pace.

Ai është ngjallur. Paqja qoftë me ju!

Jezusi është ringjallur dhe fjalët e para që u thotë miqve të tij, të cilët në orën ku Ai kishte me shumë nevoje e kishin braktisur të gjithë ,ishin: “Paqja me ju!Të gjithë ata kishin premtuar shumë solemnisht, madje mund edhe të vdisnin për të, por në fakt njëri e kishte tradhtuar, një tjetër ishte betuar se as nuk e njihte dhe të tjerët ishin larguar. Tani ai vjen duke i kërkuar dhe i përshëndet me paqe! Pa ankesa, pa akuza, Une –ju them ju –kështu ,vetëm paqe, jo një herë, por dy herë.

Pastaj vazhdoi t’i befasonte edhe më shumë. Ata më shumë gjasë ishinn duke pritur që ai t’i informonte se nuk mund të ishin më dishepujt e tij,sipas tyre ata kishin dështuar keqas në këtë gjë . Ata do ta kishin kuptuar. Por ai u thotë atyre: “Ashtu siç më ka dërguar Ati mua ,edhe unë gjithashtu ju dërgoj ju.” Unë do të ndaj me ju të njëjtin mision që kam marrë nga Ati im, sepse kam besim se mund ta vazhdoni kur unë të largohem.

Për t’i mundësuar ta bënin këtë, ai u dha atyre Shpirtin e Shenjtë dhe më tej u shpjegoi misionin e tyre: ‘Hukati mbi ta dhe u tha: “Merrni Shpirtin Shenjt! Atyre që jua falni mëkatet,u falen, e atyre që nuk jua falni, nuk u falen.” (Jn 20: 22-23)

Jezusi derdhi gjakun e tij për faljen e mëkateve tona dhe tani është ringjallur. Fjalët dhe gjestet e tij të para kanë të bëjnë me pajtimin. Apostujt janë në vendin më të mirë për të qenë ambasadorët e pajtimit sepse ata kanë kaluar vetë përvojën e faljes së pamerituar, në mënyrë që ata të dinë se për çfarë flasin.

Ungjilli na tregon se menjëherë pasi i uroi për paqe, Jezusi u tregoi duart dhe anën e tij, për t’i kujtuar se pajtimi ka një çmim dhe se edhe pas Ringjalljes, shenjat e Mundimit të Tij ishin ende të dukshme në trupin e tij të lavdishëm.

Ndërsa festojmë Ringjalljen dhe kërkojmë të na jepet për të ndarë gëzimin e Jezusit të Ngjallur, ne mund të shohim pas në javët e kaluara dhe bëjmë reflektimin tonë mbi pajtimin. Falënderoj Zotin për bujarinë e tij të madhe duke na pajtuar ne me vetveten në Krishtin dhe kërkoj hirin për të qënë një ambasador i mirë i pajtimit.

Në prani të Jezusit të Ngjallur, unë lutem me një besim të përtërirë për botën tonë të shkatërruar, për ne të krishterët, kaq të ndarë midis nesh sepse kaq shpesh kërkojmë të shërbehemi dhe jo të shërbejmë. Le të dimë si t’i tregojmë botës se Zoti na ka falur mëkatet dhe na ofron dhuratën e madhe të paqes.
